The last few weeks have been–shall we say–crazy busy!!!  Since the beginning August, I have had the pleasure of  shooting weddings with Tricia at Sweet Shibui Photography  (she’s so talented, you should check her out!) and a few other local photographers.  So freak’n fun!!!  It’s crazy hectic–but starting to make me consider adding wedding packages to my business.  It’s wonderful spending time with the bride and groom on their big day.  I love getting to know the couple and the creative, lovely things they have done with their wedding.

After spending much time shooting with someone else these last few weeks, I decided on a pet project to feed my creative needs.  This was the last hot day of the summer (sigh) and the beach seemed the perfect venue.  We headed out at about 2 hours to sunset (golden hour as we photographers like to call it) to get that beautiful golden glow and directional light.

I DIDN’T touch my Nikkor 70-200 vrii lens!  This is HUGE for me.  That lens is usually glued to my camera-and it’s a beast!  I love love love that lens, but I have to get out of my style box sometimes. (Hello, my name is Megan–I’m addicted to my 70-200 lens…)

This was entirely shot on the 85mm 1.4;  wide open.  The style is also a little different than my usual.  Not too many faces and little touches of here and there.  I really wanted to convey the details without the standard “swimming suit photo” look.  I also really wanted to use the sun setting over the lake for more sunflare.

Man, is this girl gorgeous! I’m so lucky to have her as a model.  She’s running a marathon soon and training with a personal trainer.  Can you tell?  I love shooting her.
