I’ve always said that if I ever get reincarnated, I’m coming back as a ballet dancer. Right now I’m the clumsiest person in HISTORY.

But not Autumn. Autumn is graceful and full of sunlight and joy so of course we had to get some pictures of her flying.

She also really wanted some natural, boho style images so there is nothing better than putting this beautiful, curly haired girl in a field with flowers. This senior worked HARD for these flying images. She’s so strong.

Dance sessions are some of my absolute favorites to photograph. There’s so much built-in movement, expression, and personality to work with. Autumn brought her full self — the athleticism, the artistry, the joy — and we built an entire session around it.

We started in the studio with dramatic lighting and clean backdrops to capture the power and precision of her movement. Then we took it outside into the forest and fields for something softer and more editorial. The contrast between the two is exactly what makes a session like this feel complete.

The nighttime field images at the end are some of my favorites from this entire session. I bring studio equipment with me into fields and streams so we can create images like this that cinematic, lit-from-within look you just can’t get any other way.
