I HATE WINTER. Every single thing about it.  I mean, who doesn’t?? Minneapolis rush hour traffic during snowfall, shoveling, the snot freezing in your nose with every breath you take.  And don’t even get me started about snow emergency parking…ughhh.

But despite all of this…isn’t snow absolutely beautiful?  I think that is something so easily forgotten with all of the crap winter throws at us.  Right now, I’d give anything for 80 degree weather but I forget about the mosquitos, the humidity to the point where no makeup will stay on my face and  sweating like a fat man during my summer photoshoots.  (SENIORS HINT HINT- schedule your sessions early because in July and August…yup, you’ll melt too…gross…) You can book your session now HERE.

So- why not stop complaining about the snow and make it into a beautiful, outdoor senior styled session? Alicia and Dawn (costume/stylists extraordinaires) at CostumeRentals were awesome at helping me style this chilly shoot! (CostumeRentals makes this little theatre kid’s heart go pitter patter.  Their warehouse…a dream.)  They have the most beautiful fur stoles.  Dawn pushed me to use the dark colored one for this and I’m so glad I did. It is just STUNNING with the white snowy field.

And I have to say, Senior Model Sadie was AMAZING.   It was about 10 degrees outside and she rocked it!  You’ll be seeing more of Sadie when the other part of the shoot goes up (yup, the vintage glam) but I really wanted to share these while we still have snow outside.  Sadie just finished a run at The Children’s Theatre where she was doing 8 bazillion shows a week of Cinderella around Christmas time.  Harrison (her twin brother) was also in the show and helped me out during the shoot.  You know, carrying stuff because I always haul so much crap out with me (every good photographer needs a great assistant!), making fun of his sister, helping with costume adjustments…all those good brotherly things.

I LOVE this flowered headpiece.  It was like a modified fascinator and worked perfectly for her hair.

While we were trying on costumes and styles- I spotted this top hat. While it looked great on her- it really started to tell a story for the entire photoshoot.   This image just makes me swoon.

Sigh…magical.

I know that a lot of people have commented on how she doesn’t look cold.  It was cold BUT we did take a lot of warm up breaks so Sadie did an amazing job being beautifully relaxed (SO IMPORTANT).  

Of COURSE we had to do a fashion/glamor pose…
