How much do you pack when you travel? Usually, I’m a light packer-basics include shoes I’m wearing, one outfit for each day (unless I have access to laundry-then all rules go OUT THE WINDOW!) Don’t judge me. I know you are.
My husband and I honeymooned in Europe for 3 weeks…on one carry on each. Yeah- I travel light….except when I’m traveling for a photoshoot out of state!! Sigh…the bane of my existence as a photographer. I’m like a BoyScout (or GirlScout?) and prepare for any situation. Extra batteries. Check. Backup camera? CHECK. Two lights…yeeess…just in case. I mean, what if I really wanna go crazy?? TWO lights! Whaaa? Hello glamour lighting! This lens…and this one and this one and this one…I have a problem.
That same coaching is why my studio is trusted for professional headshots.
Whether I’m photographing a high school senior or an adult who swears they’re “awkward on camera,” the process is the same: calm direction, small adjustments, and helping people see themselves the way others already do.
If you’re curious how this looks in a more polished, studio-only setting, you can see examples of my professional headshot work here.
Because I do travel to meet with clients, hopping over to Iowa wasn’t bad. Pretty easy drive, really-except Cedar Falls. Why? Because I’m a speed demon. Why didn’t someone tell me that there are SPEED CAMERAS in Cedar Falls? Shall we count the speeding tickets from one trip? Nope, let’s not. I’d really really care not to think about it. Moral of the story, slow down when going through Cedar Falls. The rest of the way- you’re golden!
Anyway, enough about me, meet the gorgeous faces of the Muscatine, IA High School Pom Dancers and Cheerleading Squads!! These girls are a BLAST and so freak’n talented. I’m already planning great things for next summer to get out of the box. What do you think? Urban dance team photoshoot? I like it. (I also have big plans for some fun shoots with the dancers…stay tuned!)

These best friend pictures always make me laugh. I HEART THEIR FACES! Especially when they do something crazy and fun. I don’t think that’s a problem for these girls. Can you spot the sisters?
