Brittany called me knowing exactly what she wanted and what she didn’t want.

Eight years of outdated headshots. Photos from her twenties that made her look like a completely different person.
And everyone around her suggesting she just use an AI app instead.

Her answer was a hard no.
They always look uncanny, want something authentic.
She’s a benefits adviser. Her entire job is built on trust. Clients need to look at her photo and immediately feel like she’s someone who has it handled. Not fancy. Not corporate gray. Just approachable, competent, and real. That’s exactly what we built.
When Brittany described her ideal headshot, she used words like “approachable,” “trusted adviser,” and “my favorite color.” She knew navy blue looked good on her. She’s a spring, and that deep blue hits right against her coloring. She didn’t want anything that belonged in a stuffy conference brochure.
The goal was LinkedIn-ready. Teams-ready. Something she could just send over without overthinking it.
Brittany also decided that she needed a bit more help than a what to wear guide so she scheduled a Wardrobe Consult zoom.
We met for an hour – going through clothing options in her own closet. She didn’t need to buy anything and knew what she liked. She just needed some assurance that she was on the right track.
When we were done, Brittany was ready to go!
One of the first things Brittany asked about was whether I helped with hair and makeup. Yes! It’s included in every session. My makeup artist and stylist work with every headshot client before we pick up a camera.
That is exactly what I thought I saw. That’s exactly what I need.
I just need to be told exactly what to do.
That’s my job. Where to put your hands, where to look, what your face is doing, which angle is working. I handle all of it. You just show up.
We worked through three to five looks, which gives you real options across different contexts; a tighter headshot for Teams, a half-body shot for LinkedIn, something a little more relaxed for a bio page.
I pull images up on my computer as we shoot, so you can see what’s working in real time. Nothing reaches the gallery that you haven’t already gotten a feel for.
About a week after the session, Brittany got her gallery to review. Seven days to choose, and I’m available to help if staring at your own face becomes overwhelming — which happens to everyone.
Collections start at three images and go up from there. Most people walk away with ten to fifteen, especially when it’s been years since their last session. When you’re filling a portfolio that’s been running on empty, it pays to grab a real selection.
We decided that the blue on a bright white backdrop gave her some great opportunities for both web design and giving that warm, ready to serve look.
If you’re in insurance, financial planning, benefits advising, or any client-facing role where trust is the product you’re selling, your headshot is working before you ever get on a call. It’s the first impression that earns the click or loses it.
Brittany knew that. She’d been running on eight-year-old photos long enough.
